Valencia Basket men’s team is putting its strong run of results on the line (with seven consecutive wins) and will have the chance to rewrite its own history by trying for the first time to win the first two games of a semifinal series, as they head into Game 2 of their matchup against La Laguna Tenerife (Thursday the 12th, 9:15 PM, Fonteta, Vamos/Movistar+ Deportes). This comes after securing the first point in this best-of-five series on Tuesday with an 83-65 victory. A win on Thursday would also guarantee that the Fonteta hosts at least one more game this season.
The Taronja team adapted well to the setting in Game 1, found scoring opportunities in the paint, and managed to break open a tight game—balanced until the end of the third quarter—through defensive effort, despite a final score that didn’t reflect the difficulty of the matchup.
They’ll aim to dictate the tempo once again with the backing of their fans in this second game, though they’ll have to wait until the last moment to know whether they can count on two players who ended Tuesday’s game with knocks: Jean Montero (right hand) and Nate Sestina (right elbow). With the rest of the roster available, the only medical absence remains long-term injury Ethan Happ.
